Revu Lite

What is Revu Lite

A quick way to grab a screenshot and have a public url in your clipboard

There are other solutions out there, but they typically brand up your screenshot (unprofessional), or they try to sell you on a monthly subscription (it's just screenshots?)

Revu Lite uses Dropbox's Public folder feature to give you free image hosting on Dropbox. Dropbox has a feature that shares your images, but again, they wrap it in a branded landing page.

How do I get it?

Revu Lite is free. Download away!

What you need to have done / and / or do first

Locating your User ID

  1. Make sure Dropbox is installed, running and your Public Folder is setup (see above)
  2. Open your Dropbox folder
  3. Create any file inside of the Public folder
  4. Right click that file and select Copy Public Link
  5. You now have a link like https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11112333/yourFile.txt in your clipboard. We are interested in the number after /u. In this case, 11112333

How does this actually work?

Revu Lite enables a key combo [Option + Shift + 3] and it will be moved and named automatically. A public link copied to your clipboard.

Difference between Revu & Revu Lite

Revu Lite uses Dropbox to distribute your screengrabs. Revu allows you to use your own server (Via FTP/SFTP) to host images. It also let's you control the presentation whereas Lite just links you to the file only.

It will be a one-time fee and not a monthly service.
